Culture Change Model:
Staffing
Too
often, companies hire people based solely on their
résumé
and
perceived experience from information obtained during the job
interview. What this selection process doesn’t tell you
however, is specifically how the individual will fit with the job and
the company’s culture.
For
example, you wouldn’t want to hire a sales person that is totally
motivated by money into an organization whose employee retention
strategy is to have lower incentive earnings potential but offer stock
benefits for longevity. This type of hiring ultimately results
in a dissatisfied employee that leaves after you have invested in
their recruiting, selection, hiring and training.
So
what does it mean to get the right people to fit the company and the
job?
To
the Company, it means improved business results because of reduced
turnover and higher employee productivity because employees are
matched to the job, and the company’s culture and values.
To
Employees, they feel good about their match and fit to the job and
the company.
To
Customers, being serviced and supported by employees that like
their jobs and their company, they will feel respected and
valued.
